If you have heard any Christian music in the last few years, you have probably heard of Forrest Frank. He has been everywhere this year. With over 1.4 BILLION streams on Spotify, a number 1 Christian and top 100 Billboard hit song (You Ways Better) with 261 million views on Youtube, and a stadium tour that played for over 215,000 people across America. The dude is on fire.
And then he broke his back. In late July, he was skateboarding at home when he fell and broke two vertebrae in his lower back. The singer who sings about having good days and how God is always looking out for you... is laid up in bed, unable to tour or perform.
So what do you do in that situation? Do you cry out to God, "Why me?" Do you question your faith? Do you descend into depression? Not Forrest. He began recording music from his bed. The first song? "God's Got My Back" (yes, he admits that is low-hanging fruit).
Now, don't get me wrong. Forrest is a human who can mess it up as easily as the rest of us. But it is encouraging to see someone living out what they proclaim, even when the chips are down. I think there is a good example in there for the rest of us. Let's keep our eyes on God, not on the troubles that pull us down. Because, after all, God's got our backs.
